
The Ayurvedic and Unani Tibbia College and Hospital in India is a historic institution, also a unique institution where both streams are operating under the same roof. It was started in 1883 by the Hazeek-ul-Mulk Hakim Abdul Majeed Khan Sahib as 'Madrasa e Tibia'. It was formally inaugurated on 23 July 1889 by the then Deputy Commissioner of Delhi, Shri R. Was done by Clarke. The study of Modern Medicine and Science was a part of the syllabus of this school. This madrasa-e-tibiya was later re-established in the new building at Karol Bagh by Masih-ul-Mulk Hakim Ajmal Khan Sahib. The foundation stone of the institute was laid by His Excellency Lord Hardinge (the then Viceroy of India) on 29 March 1916. The institute was inaugurated by the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi on 13 February 1921.
