The Ayurvedic and Unani Tibbia College and Hospital in India is a historic institution, also a unique institution where both streams are operating under the same roof. It was started in 1883 by the Hazeek-ul-Mulk Hakim Abdul Majeed Khan Sahib as 'Madrasa e Tibia'. It was formally inaugurated on 23 July 1889 by the then Deputy Commissioner of Delhi, Shri R. Was done by Clarke. The study of Modern Medicine and Science was a part of the syllabus of this school. This madrasa-e-tibiya was later re-established in the new building at Karol Bagh by Masih-ul-Mulk Hakim Ajmal Khan Sahib. The foundation stone of the institute was laid by His Excellency Lord Hardinge (the then Viceroy of India) on 29 March 1916. The institute was inaugurated by the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi on 13 February 1921.

The college and 300-bed hospital are located in central Delhi (Karol Bagh) and have three buildings (administrative wing, academic wing and hospital wing) which are a unique blend of Mughal and British architecture. In addition to the college and hospital, a huge campus of 33.33 acres of land is Herbal Garden, hostels for boys and girls, a mini stadium and staff quarters.

Previously this college and allied units were managed by a board established under the Tibia College Act, 1952. The Act is now known as the Delhi Tibia College (Take Over) Act, 1998 and is known as the NCT of Delhi Government. The college starts from May 1, 1998.

The College of Ayurvedic and Unani Tibia is a co-educational institution that offers under-graduate courses BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) and BUMS Kamil e Tibet O Jarahat- (Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery). 5 years duration comprising one year compulsory rotary internship and postgraduate course in Kriya Shariar and Kayasthayika (in Ayurveda stream) and 1 in. Munaf-ul Aja (Unani Physiology) 2. Ilm-Susa (Saidala (Unani Pharmaceutical Science) 3). Amraz-e-Nisawan and Kabbalat (Unani Gynecology and Obstetrics) 4. Moallijat (Unani Medicine) in the Yunani stream.

The college is accredited by CCIM and affiliated to Delhi University.
